Canker Covers review

So a majority of people suffer from canker sores and you know how painful they can be. Well here’s my story.

A little over 2 weeks ago I went to the dentist to get a ton of fillings. 2 days after I realized these painful sores in my mouth. After a week of suffering and being broke I found these canker covers online. I was desperate so decided to waste 10 bucks on a 6 pack.

When I first put it on I had put it on backwards because I misread the instructions. It hurt to take off and also took off some skin. I put another one on and ended up taking it off 2 hours later on accident. It didn’t help at all except for making my teeth extremely sensitive.

I can’t tell you how many reviews I read on the product and they all were not too helpful. I decided to try again, this time breaking one in half. I didn’t mess with it all so it lasted all night and ended up having to brush the rest off. I noticed a slight improvement but nothing to be stoked about. I used another one last night and after brushing it off this morning it had shrunk to half its size! I was so excited and hoping it would last. I’m trying again tonight in order to see if it really works. Let’s hope for the best.

A few things to consider:
1. It is really bulky and uncomfortable so wear it before bed.
2. It burns when you first put it on but its almost soothing.
3. It gets really goopy and disgusting so just a heads up.
4. Finally the thing that I hated was it made my teeth really sensitive and I had to take Motrin to make the pain subside.

Other than those few issues the product seems to work even if you needd to use multiple tabs. So… should you try the product? I say if your canker sores are to the point where they are affecting your daily life, give them a shot. I’m sure it cut my suffering down a few days!

Facebook for android or Bloo?

Finding a decent Facebook application for your android phone can be a huge hassle. We all know apple iphones have the best Facebook platform, but since Google and Facebook are constantly bickering we, the consumers, are left with nothing.

When I first got my phone I only knew of the Facebook for android application and it was terrible. The status feed never updated, sometimes the pictures I uploaded never actually showed up, and the notifications lagged a ton. After a little research I tried many other platforms such as babbler and Facebooktouch which was just a shortcut to the mobile site. Well, I one day found Bloo and thought my Facebook issues were over. Not so much.

It was great once everything got set up and the interface was very user friendly. Although you couldn’t upload pictures straight from the actual application you could by selecting the share option in the phones gallery.

My issue with Bloo was definitely the fact that it timed out regularly and you don’t always get the notifications which was a little frustrating. The other huge issue I had that really annoyed me was the fact that you could read your inbox but couldn’t reply. Seriously? That’s ridiculous. I was okay with it for a while but figured it was kind of stupid without it since I use it a lot.

Yesterday I decided to retry Facebook for android. I’m not sure what kind of bugs they fixed, but it is seriously so much better. Although I’m not getting notifications yet it isn’t a huge deal. I compared the feed on my computer to my phone and it was perfect. Plus when you look at the notifications they all show up, I’m just not getting alerts. I also uploaded about 10 pictures to see how it held up and they were all posted on the site immediately.

I’m very impressed with the improvements that have been made and I’m confident it will keep improving.

For now I’m sticking with Facebook for android and going to sleep. Its almost 3am.

Lost

So. I gave into the pressure of watching one of the most popular television shows in America, and I must say, it took me a while to really enjoy this show.

I thought the first episode was terrible. I barely got through it, actually. After posting this on my twitter account (melindawhoa) I had a friend tell me to give it another shot because she promised it got better. Well I decided to give it another shot and the second episode was just as retarded for me. I’m not one to give up on things so I keep kept watching.

Alright. I got hooked. The other night I was up till 4am watching episodes 4-7 or 8ish. I kept telling myself the show was horrible but I can’t resist totally unrealistic situations and the girls who magically always look fantastic and have no body hair.

But come on! its lost! now I am not only completely hooked but I’m having a hard time getting my final paper of the semester. Seriously. I can’t get it done or know how. Lost is ruining my academics.

Overall its a fantastic show and I’m cutting this entry short. If you haven’t seen it, give it a shot. Its worth the first few horrible episodes.

Shapewriter review

If any of you have a my touch from t mobile, or any android phone with touch screen only, you know how annoying the stock keyboard can be. I always marvel at everyone with iphones because of their amazing keyboards. Well android lovers, you could be in luck.

Although there are a few apps out there for changing the overall look and feel, there’s only one i was impressed with. ShapeWriter.

As a free application i was a little worried it wouldn’t live up to hype. I was wrong, mostly. First of all, the new my touch phones have something similar built in, but since i couldn’t afford it, I got the older model. To text, all you need to do is drag your finger the shortest distance between letters you need and if needed, select your desired word from their predictive text box. So simple, and much quicker once you get the hang of it. I’m sure the grammar natzis are wondering why I’m not capitalizing my i’s. Being obsessed with grammar myself, this major downside bums me out. I’m currently writing this entry using ShapeWriter, and for reasons unknown to me, it does not auto cap “i” when used alone and I’m not sure how to fix this, if at all. If anyone knows how please inform me, as it can be frustrating. The only other issue you need to resolve right away is the dictionary. Since i have a fairly dirty vocabulary i needed to manually add all my favorite words.

Overall, for a free keyboard upgrade it’s fantastic, even though it takes a while to get used to.

Consumer Report

If I have any spelling errors I apologize, I’m writing my first blog entry via cell phone. Haha.

I was listening to the radio this morning and they were talking about how the quality of our purchases have gone down while the prices have gone up. A few examples would be with the Little Debbies snack cakes. Apparently they have decreased in size throughout the years and the price has gone up. Another caller mentioned fast food cups. The cups have gotten slimmer in order to cut back on costs, so if you leave it in your car for even a few hours it begins to leak, compared to a few years back when it could sit in your car for days. If any of you are ice cream fans, you will know the containers have gotten smaller, and the price has gone up. The radio host said it best, “we’re getting jipped.”

One callerdid get me thinking though. She is a single mother, and called to complain about laundry detergent. There are bottles that read, “New Condensed Formula”, which means you need to use less to get your clothing clean. CNN however, did a consumer report on these detergents and found there was absolutely no difference between the condensed formula and the regular detergent formula. I don’t know about you, but this ticks me off.

I personally don’t know if there is anything we can do to stop this or make it right. Bringing this to the attention of everyone is really all we can do, and we can also hope in the near future we can again be paying for quality.

Movie Review: Cop Out

I won’t lie here, the only reason I saw this movie was because Kevin Smith was directing. Kevin Smith is one of my all time favorite screenwriters/actors/etc. He is hilarious. He is a down to earth dude with a huge heart and a lot on his mind. I was of course turned onto him after seeing Clerks, Clerks 2, Chasing Amy, Jay and Silent Bob, the list goes on. After watching some of his films and having roommates who were huge fans as well, I fell in love with his work. I went out and bought his book, “My Boring Ass Life” which is, well, sometimes pretty boring. But that’s the life of Kevin Smith. That is why I was so excited when I saw he was going to be directing a movie for the first time.

The second reason I wanted to see this film was because it had one of my favorite actors, Tracey Morgan. I don’t care how horrible people thought his book was, this guy is hilarious. There is no doubting that. None. Zip. Nothing. I of course loved him back on SNL, when he would do Brian Fellows Safari Planet, which was by far one of my favorite sketches. After getting tuned into 30 Rock I got to see his acting in action once again.

Moving on, let me tell you what I was told going into the movie. I follow Kevin Smith on his twitter account and he was saying the movie was getting terrible reviews from critics. I usually don’t agree with critics, and I also never doubt Kevin Smiths super awesome magic skills, but of course after hearing something like that you tend to go into the film not knowing what to expect.

HOLY HELL. This movie was EPIC. So much better than I ever thought possible. I am not making this up. Within the first 10 minutes I was cracking up. No, this movie is not a tear jerker, inspirational, brooha type movie. This is a film for someone who wants to see a real comedy, chill out, not have to figure out weird twists and turns, and just have an overall good time. Ok, time to get to the plot. I won’t put any spoilers in, I promise.

The movie starts with Bruce and Tracey both working as partners for NYPD. I swear to God a lot of the scenes totally reminded me of playing Grand Theft Auto. Anyways. Something goes wrong, yatta yatta, and they end up getting suspended from their jobs. With Bruce having a daughter who is about to get married, he needs to get money, and fast. His ex wifes current husband is a total jerk but has a lot of money, and offers to pay for the wedding. Lets cut to the real deal here. Bruce says no go, and on begins the journey to getting ahold of roughly $50,000. That’s pretty much all I can tell you. I said I wouldn’t spoil anything.

Overall, the cast in this film does a fantastic job. Kevin Smith directs the film fabulously. I don’t have a single complaint about the film. If I was able to tell a movie critic about how I feel, I’m sure they would disagree. But then again, they LOVED Slumdog Millionare. Blech.

I give this film 5 stars.

Chat Roulette

If you haven’t heard of this latest internet phenomenon, I’m not sure where you’ve been. Regardless, chatroulette is a social network tool that connects random people via webcam around the world. You never know who you are going to talk to, what you are going to see, and you can’t have any expectations whatsoever. This website is definitely NOT kid friendly, so when I read is was actually created by a 17 year old boy in Russia named Andrey Ternovskiy, I was shocked, but also quite impressed.

If you are not the type to be disturbed easily by male genitalia, masturbation, nudity, drug use, and weapons, this website could be quite entertaining for you. After hearing a report on NPR, I decided I would try the website out myself. It wasn’t surprising to me to see that most users were male, and younger. I wasn’t on the site to chat, I wanted to see what kind of person is using chatroulette. You have an option on the screen to skip users, so I was obviously just skimming over everyone. The first guy I got was just a normal guy probably in college. The next camera I got was a close up of a guy masturbating, followed by more guys sitting at their computers, some without shirts, more masturbating, and one female who was on her bed in her underwear surrounded by Maxim magazines. After about 5 minutes I was pretty done with the website. I don’t know who honestly goes on the site to start a real conversation. It was extremely awkward for me to just be sitting there and having someone stare at you via webcam. Not my cup of tea.

If you are not faint of heart, definitely try it out. It’s worth the experience to see what the hype is about. Although for me it wasn’t too exciting, just really awkward, I can see how people would enjoy it. Definitely a way to waste some time.

Introductions.

Everyone likes to keep introductions short and sweet, so I’m going to do my best. I won’t say why I have a blog, why I need a blog, or what my goals are for this blog. I just wanted a new blog. That’s all there is to it. I needed a new place to speak my mind, not just a dear diary. I have a ton of those. I needed a place for my to share news, my views on current events, not so current events, and not anything special in particular. I have a lot of ideas floating around in my head and all my blogs are getting ridiculous, so it’s time to put everything in one spot. Well…for the most part.

However you got to this blog, I’m stoked on it. I finally caught up with the rest of the world and got internet on my cell phone plan, OMG, so I can update more regularly and keep track of this blog throughout the day. If you like what you read, and you are a fan of the microblogging website, Twitter, and you don’t mind reading up on my life at every possible moment, you can follow me here @melindaiswack. OR, if you have a tumblr account, I would love if you followed me there as well by clicking here.
